Substandard Ingredients Used as Premium Quality; "Liu Wenxiang Spicy Hot Pot" Outlets in Multiple Locations Under Investigation
People’s Financial News, March 15 — On March 14, the topic “Liu Wenxiang sells duck meat as pork and beef” trended on social media. After an investigation, multiple Liu Wenxiang stores were found to have issues such as using inferior ingredients and confusing labels. It is reported that in Xiamen, Fujian, a Liu Wenxiang store labeled beef rolls as beef or meat on the delivery platform, and staff claimed they were beef, but the product packaging showed they were duck meat. A similar violation was found at a store in Zhangzhou, Fujian. Staff there told customers that black pepper meat strips, Minnan meat soup, and oyster sauce meat slices were pork, and beef rolls were beef, but upon checking the kitchen ingredient list, it was found that the main ingredients of these products were duck meat. On the evening of March 14, market regulatory authorities in multiple parts of Fujian launched inspections, conducting surprise checks on Liu Wenxiang stores. Some of the involved stores have been asked to make immediate corrections. The market regulators stated they will strictly investigate and punish acts of counterfeiting and false advertising according to law, and will conduct a comprehensive sweep of all chain stores in the area.
