Kazakhstan Holds Referendum on New Constitution Draft

On the 15th at 7 a.m. local time, Kazakhstan began a referendum on the new draft constitution, with voting continuing until 8 p.m. that day. According to the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, the country has set up more than 10,000 polling stations, and over 12.4 million citizens have registered to vote. If the referendum passes, Kazakhstan will merge its two parliamentary chambers into one and restore the vice presidency position that was abolished in 1996. (CCTV News)
