Yesterday I discovered a leak under the sink, and today when I had some free time I checked on the cold water valve issue. I disassembled it, added a sealing washer, and reinstalled it. So far there hasn't been any more leaking over the past half day.
When we renovated the house before, I basically figured out most things myself and hired workers to do them. The plumber was a ripoff—he left some finishing work undone without doing it for me. I installed my pre-filter myself, and I handled all the network cable connections myself.
It seems I've picked up quite a few life skills, which are closely related to my experience working on construction sites moving bricks back then. But none of it is really useful.
