TechNews March 15: According to media reports, when purchasing car insurance, customers found that the package offered by sales agents included many coverage options unrelated to auto insurance.

These coverages include rent insurance, household property insurance, gas insurance, appliance insurance, etc., priced between 300 and 600 yuan.

Recently, an insurance salesperson provided a man with two car insurance quotes.

One included the “Ruyi Xing” comprehensive driving and riding insurance for 400 yuan, covering pipe bursts and water damage, household property loss, hospitalization allowances, and medical expense reimbursements.

The other included a non-auto product called “Ren Wo Xing Seventh Generation” for 380 yuan, which includes personal accident insurance for drivers and passengers, as well as additional personal liability insurance in public places.

He asked the salesperson if he could skip these items, but the salesperson said, “You need to buy all of them.”

In response, reporters contacted China People’s Insurance Company, Pacific Insurance, and Ping An Insurance.

Customer service representatives all stated that only compulsory traffic insurance (mandatory liability insurance) is required for vehicles on the road. Other insurances are optional; buy if needed, skip if not.

Whether to purchase non-auto insurance depends on the individual’s preference. It is not mandatory. If already purchased and regret it, a refund can be requested. The relevant policy handler will contact the customer.
