A New York resident lost nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency through the SocksEscort proxy service, which has been seized by authorities. The service utilized AVrecon malware that infected over 369,000 devices across 163 countries, enabling criminals to mask their true locations. An international law enforcement operation seized 34 domain names, shut down servers, and froze approximately $3.5 million in cryptocurrency. Europol estimates the service profited at least €5 million from anonymity fees paid by users.
