Cuba has held talks with the United States, "still in early stages"! Trump previously threatened: End the Iran war first, Cuba is next
According to CCTV News, the station’s reporter learned that on March 13 local time, Cuban President Díaz-Canel stated that Cuban officials have held talks with the U.S. government aimed at resolving differences through dialogue.
Díaz-Canel said that dialogue with the United States is still in its early stages, and Cuba is willing to continue such exchanges on the principles of equality and mutual respect.
Previously, CCTV International reported that on the afternoon of March 5, local time, at an event held at the White House with the Miami International Football Club, U.S. President Trump said he hopes to end the Iran war first, and that “Cuba is only a matter of time.” Trump stated that Cuba “is very eager to reach an agreement,” and also said that the situation in Venezuela has “stabilized,” praising acting President Delsi Rodriguez of Venezuela.
According to Xinhua News Agency, on January 11 this year, Trump once again pressured Cuba, threatening that if Cuba does not “reach an agreement” soon, it will face a situation of “zero oil and zero funds” flowing into Cuba.
On that day, Trump posted on the social media platform “Truth Social” that Cuba has relied on large amounts of oil and funds provided by Venezuela for survival for many years. In return, Cuba provides “security services” to Venezuela. Trump claimed that this relationship “has now ended,” and there will be no more oil and funds flowing into Cuba.
Trump threatened that Cuba needs to “reach an agreement before it’s too late,” but did not specify in the post what kind of agreement Cuba was required to reach.
On January 3, the U.S. launched a large-scale military operation against Venezuela, forcibly detaining President Maduro and his wife. Trump hinted that Cuba might become the next focus of U.S. attention. On the 4th, Trump again threatened Cuba, saying that without Venezuelan oil supplies, Cuba would find it difficult to “sustain itself.”
Cuban President Díaz-Canel said on January 4 that 32 Cuban citizens tragically lost their lives in the criminal attack launched by the U.S. against Venezuela. On the 6th, Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez posted on social media that the Cuban people, faithful to their history of struggle, will resist any imperialist invasion and defend their homeland.
