Advance Cross-Provincial Instant Access National Medical Insurance Image Index Has Uploaded 3.49 Billion Records
People’s Financial News, March 13 — According to the National Healthcare Security Administration, for a long time, “excessive, costly, and repetitive examinations” have been a major pain point and bottleneck reported by the public. To address these urgent issues and enable instant cross-province access to medical imaging data for insurance payments, the National Healthcare Security Administration has been promoting the construction of a cloud-based medical imaging platform since 2024. They issued standardized indexing and coding standards for insurance imaging data and guided local authorities to upload imaging indexes to the national insurance information platform in a hierarchical manner. As of March 12, 2026, all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have uploaded at least one local insurance imaging index, totaling 349 million entries, laying a solid data foundation for nationwide cross-province instant access to insurance imaging data. Moving forward, the administration will continue to optimize the cloud imaging services, improve data quality control, and promote cross-province instant access to insurance imaging data, allowing more insured people to enjoy the benefits of data sharing and convenient medical treatment, making insurance services warmer and more effective.
