[Communications Industry Network News] Barcelona, March 2, 2026 — Qualcomm Technologies today announced the launch of a comprehensive AI-driven RAN innovation suite, accelerating the realization of RAN AI and autonomous networks ahead of the 6G era. This initiative not only delivers immediate operational benefits for mobile network operators but also lays the foundation for next-generation AI-native autonomous networks. Building on the proven network deployment of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon RAN automation suite, the company introduced intelligent RAN management services designed specifically for commercial wireless units (RU) and distributed units (DU) RAN platforms, along with a series of AI features. These solutions collectively help telecom operators achieve network transformation—enhancing performance and operational efficiency today while jointly defining the future of 6G networks with industry leaders.

Unified Strategy: AI-Ready Today, 6G Together Tomorrow

This announcement reflects Qualcomm’s unified strategy to support operators in transitioning to AI-driven networks. The company integrates a powerful technology portfolio—from radio frequency units to telecom servers—commits to supporting open ecosystems across diverse topologies and vendor combinations, and offers AI optimization capabilities validated through large-scale deployments. Whether through intelligent RAN management services that orchestrate autonomous decision-making across existing and future multi-generation heterogeneous networks, or through AI functionalities implemented on commercial RU and DU RAN platforms to boost performance, Qualcomm continues to demonstrate that operators can address many pressing performance and TCO challenges today without waiting for future infrastructure.

Durga Malladi, EVP and General Manager of 5G Mobile Broadband and Infrastructure at Qualcomm Technologies, said: “By partnering with Qualcomm Technologies, operators gain not only advanced technology but also the trust of a leading company—one with decades of wireless innovation and a proven commercial platform that continues to reshape network deployment and operation. Our intelligent RAN management services and expanding RAN AI suite enable operators to achieve measurable improvements in performance, efficiency, and cost in the short term, while laying a critical foundation for fully autonomous, AI-native networks on the path to 6G.”

Launching Intelligent RAN Management Services

The intelligent RAN management service is part of Qualcomm’s proven Snapdragon RAN automation suite, capable of paving the way toward AI-enabled autonomous networks with 6G-level intelligence, building on existing automation and utilizing current RAN AI agents and tools to create value for commercial networks.

This service establishes an intelligent agent layer composed of RAN AI agents, each focused on different aspects of network operation, working collaboratively to monitor network conditions, analyze issues, generate and test action plans, and execute autonomous management within a closed-loop system. A key feature of the intelligent RAN service is that RAN AI agents can invoke powerful RAN AI toolkits to gain expertise and insights. Examples of available RAN AI tools include rApp application marketplace, experience quality insights, digital twins and AI simulations, and advanced analytics.

Built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon RAN automation suite’s unified platform supporting multi-vendor, multi-generation, and multi-topology deployments, the intelligent RAN framework enables seamless AI-driven optimization across heterogeneous networks. This unified platform has been deployed by leading global operators and is accelerating the rollout of three new RAN AI features: demand-driven RAN adaptation (including fixed wireless access), autonomous RAN monitoring, and RAN energy management—delivering quantifiable performance and efficiency gains for commercial networks. Additionally, the intelligent RAN management system offers a comprehensive architecture beyond point solutions, establishing a clear pathway toward fully autonomous, 6G-level intelligent networks.

Commercial Platforms Now Support RAN AI Suite

Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of a new suite of advanced RAN AI features for commercial RU and DU platforms. These features enable operators to leverage AI to improve performance and reduce operational expenses (OPEX) without hardware refresh cycles.

New RAN AI features include:

  1. AI-Driven Uplink Adaptation Platform: Qualcomm Snapdragon QDU100 Telecom Server Platform

AI-powered uplink adaptation uses machine learning to continuously learn from real network conditions and dynamically adjust uplink parameters, overcoming the slow response of traditional adaptive algorithms. This faster adaptation improves cell-edge coverage, increases capacity in congested areas, reduces connection drops, and enhances spectral efficiency during traffic surges, resulting in more reliable uplink performance.

  1. AI-Driven Downlink Beamforming Channel Prediction Platform: Qualcomm Snapdragon QRU100 RF Unit Platform and QDU100 Telecom Server Platform

AI-based downlink beamforming channel prediction anticipates upcoming channel conditions using AI and machine learning, enabling proactive, high-precision beamforming to address terminal mobility and environmental changes. This enhances throughput, coverage, spectral efficiency, and performance in dense or high-mobility scenarios by generating more focused, accurate, and seamlessly trackable beams, significantly boosting massive MIMO efficiency.

  1. AI-Driven Factory Calibration Platform: Qualcomm Snapdragon QRU100 RF Unit Platform

AI-powered factory calibration uses machine learning to learn optimal tuning patterns from large-scale RF units, enabling fast, consistent, and highly precise calibration that replaces time-consuming manual processes. This accelerates deployment, improves manufacturing efficiency and quality, reduces operational complexity during new site activation, and supports rapid deployment and expansion of 5G and future 6G networks.

With intelligent RAN management services and a commercially ready RAN AI suite, Qualcomm is equipping operators with tools to achieve tangible performance and efficiency improvements today, while preparing for the AI economy and the future of 6G.
