In February, Guangzhou's CPI increased by 1.9% month-over-month.
According to data from the Guangzhou Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics: In February, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Guangzhou increased by 1.9% month-on-month and by 2.5% year-on-year; from January to February, the average CPI rose by 1.2% compared to the same period last year. Among these, food prices increased by 1.7% month-on-month (all figures are month-on-month), non-food prices rose by 1.9%; consumer goods prices increased by 0.8%, and service prices rose by 2.7%. The prices of eight major categories of goods and services showed five increases, one stability, and two decreases. The main changes are as follows:
1. Prices of food, tobacco, alcohol, and dining out increased by 3.4%. Food prices rose by 1.7%. Among 14 subcategories of food, 8 increased and 6 decreased month-on-month. Influenced by increased consumption demand during the Spring Festival, the prices of shrimp and crabs rose by 11.6%, fresh fruit prices increased by 7.8%, and pork prices went up by 2.6%. Due to factors such as restaurant service charges and higher takeout fees, restaurant dining prices increased by 10.6%, and takeout prices rose by 1.8%.
2. Prices of transportation and communication increased by 3.1%. Driven by strong demand for travel and outings, rental fees for transportation tools increased by 37.9%, airline ticket prices rose by 34.1%, and long-distance bus tickets increased by 5.4%. Influenced by fluctuations in international oil prices, gasoline prices increased by 3.1%.
3. Prices of daily necessities and services increased by 2.7%. During the Spring Festival, household service demand was strong. Coupled with a shortage of domestic service personnel returning to their hometowns, household service prices rose by 30.3%, maternal and infant care services increased by 14.4%, and home repair services rose by 10.7%.
4. The remaining five categories experienced relatively smaller impacts. Prices for education, culture, and entertainment increased by 3.1%, other goods and services rose by 3.0%, healthcare prices remained stable, clothing prices decreased by 0.2%, and housing prices decreased by 0.1%.
