CNN: U.S. Government Senior Officials Did Not Anticipate Iran Would Block the Strait of Hormuz

Odaily Planet Daily reports that multiple insiders revealed that during the planning of the current operation, the U.S. Pentagon and the National Security Council seriously underestimated Iran’s likelihood of closing the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. military strikes. Sources said that Trump’s national security team failed to fully consider the potential consequences of the worst-case scenario. Three individuals familiar with the closed-door meetings stated that at recent classified briefings, senior officials in the Trump administration admitted to lawmakers that they had not anticipated Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for an attack.
