Airstrike in central Beirut: four killed, ten wounded
Early morning on March 8, Beirut was hit by a powerful airstrike that damaged the Ramada Hotel located in the heart of the Lebanese capital. The incident resulted in four deaths and ten injuries, according to an official statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
First Strike on the City Center
This airstrike on Beirut was the first attack on the central districts of the capital since the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which intensified last week. The news agency Ming Pao noted the exceptional nature of this event, emphasizing that such attacks had not previously targeted the city center.
Official Explanation from Israel
After the strike, the Israeli military issued a statement saying that the operation targeted the commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who was in Beirut. This explanation links the incident in Beirut to the broader regional confrontation between Israel and Iranian entities.
The tragedy in downtown Beirut demonstrates the escalation of tensions in the region and the serious humanitarian consequences of ongoing hostilities.
