Iran's New Supreme Leader Issues First Statement as International Oil Prices Surge Past $100 Again
According to CCTV News, on Thursday local time, Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Muqtada al-Husayni, stated in a declaration read on national television that Iran will continue to adopt strategic measures, including blocking the Strait of Hormuz, and will also attack U.S. military bases in the Middle East. This is his first public statement since succeeding his father after his assassination.
In this strongly worded speech, Muqtada al-Husayni said the United States must close all its military bases in the Middle East. We will continue, and must continue.”
Muqtada al-Husayni warned that the U.S.
