Nio Li Bin Involved in Xiaomi's 5 Million Yuan Infringement Case? Insiders Respond
Phoenix Technology News, February 25 — Regarding the first-instance ruling in the infringement case against the self-media account “AutoReport Car Industry,” there were rumors within the industry that the account was actually controlled by NIO founder Li Bin. In response, an informed source clarified to the media that Li Bin had transferred his shares related to the account in 2020 and has no connection to the involved entity.
Yesterday afternoon, Xiaomi announced the favorable first-instance verdict in the infringement case against “AutoReport Car Industry.” According to the court’s decision, the defendant is required to delete the infringing content and issue a public apology, and must pay Xiaomi up to 5 million yuan in damages. Public search information shows that the verified owner of the account that lost the case is Beijing Yiche Interactive Advertising Co., Ltd.
Following the announcement of the high damages award, rumors circulated online claiming that the actual controller of the involved account was NIO founder Li Bin. In response, an insider revealed that the account is fully owned by Beijing Yiche Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Li Bin had already transferred all his shares related to the account back in 2020. The person explained that the current publicly available shareholding information is mainly due to delays in updating business registration changes under the VIE (Variable Interest Entity) structure. The actual controller of Yiche is no longer Li Bin.
Public records show that Li Bin is the founder of Yiche.com, which he established in 2000 as an automotive information platform. In 2018, he officially stepped down as CEO of Yiche and shifted his focus entirely to NIO.
