Why do Gen Z seem to have figured everything out lately?

**False enlightenment:**
Scrolling through 250 short videos in a day covering military industry, history, agriculture, gaming, entertainment, edge content, and sales pitches. After putting down your phone, you feel existential emptiness and believe you've seen through everything.

**Real enlightenment:**
After a decade of effort, you discover that without connections you won't get promoted by leadership. You score over 600 points on exams but can't find a job after graduation. You scrimp and save to maintain a relationship with your girlfriend, only to discover she cheated on you. You wish to care for your parents, but they pass before you can. Day after day you're left with regret.

The internet is advanced, short videos are everywhere, making it feel like you can live an entire lifetime in your brain. But it's all fake. Your body remains in the same place. Your dreams haven't begun. Your mind is muddled. Your body is exhausted. You've abandoned your agency, passively accepting information input, becoming another heart emoji and thumbs-up on the path to some influencer's success.

You've never actually changed your circumstances, yet you expect them to change themselves.

You haven't seen through anything. You've simply given up on yourself.
