On March 10th, Mu Niao Homestay released data showing that since March, searches related to “spring outings” on the platform have increased by 370% month-over-month, with the popularity of flower viewing during spring on the rise. Orders for “village tours” have increased by 37% year-over-year. Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Shandong have become the top three provinces with the highest travel intentions among Mu Niao Homestay users.

Based on orders, the spring outing market from March to April this year sees Beijing, Sanya, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Guangzhou, and Xi’an as the most popular destinations among travelers. Cherry blossoms in Beijing and Xi’an, plum blossoms in Nanjing and Shanghai, and peach blossoms in Hangzhou and Suzhou… “flower chasing tours” have become the hottest travel theme.

The first peak of flower viewing during spring will arrive around March 14. In terms of trip duration, spring outings this year mainly consist of short trips. Data from Mu Niao Homestay shows that 55% of bookings are for stays of two days or less, with most travelers still choosing weekend trips.

In addition to flower viewing, three major trends are gaining popularity: pet-friendly self-driving tours, ancient town explorations, and rural food adventures, all of which have seen significant year-over-year growth. Data from Mu Niao Homestay indicates that during spring outings, bookings for homestays with the tags “pet-friendly” and “parking” have increased by 20% year-over-year. Ancient towns are especially popular, with spring booking peaks in Lijiang Old Town, Wuzhen, Nanxun Old Town, Xitang Old Town, and Pingyao Ancient City.
