Air China: January passenger traffic turnover increased by 3.0% year-on-year

China National Aviation Corporation announced that in January 2026, the group’s consolidated passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers) increased year-on-year. Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers) decreased by 0.9% year-on-year, while passenger traffic increased by 3.0% year-on-year. Domestic passenger capacity decreased by 2.0%, with passenger traffic rising by 2.6%. International passenger capacity increased by 1.5%, with passenger traffic up by 4.2%. Regional passenger capacity decreased by 0.8%, while passenger traffic increased by 1.8%. The average passenger load factor was 82.2%, up 3.2 percentage points year-on-year. Domestic routes increased by 3.7 percentage points, international routes by 2.0 percentage points, and regional routes by 1.9 percentage points.

In terms of freight, freight capacity (measured by available freight ton kilometers) decreased by 3.9% year-on-year, while freight and mail traffic (measured by revenue freight ton kilometers) increased by 4.4%. The freight load factor was 35.6%, up 2.8 percentage points year-on-year.
