Forbes releases the March global top ten billionaires list: Elon Musk's net worth has surpassed $800 billion, setting a new record again.
On March 2nd, Forbes released the top ten billionaires worldwide for March. Elon Musk’s net worth has surpassed $800 billion, setting a new record, with the gap between him and the second-place wealth holder widening to over $500 billion.
After the turbulent market in January, the top ten global billionaires remained relatively stable last month, with only two positions swapping: Warren Buffett moved up to 9th place, while Zara co-founder Amancio Ortega dropped to 10th.
Musk was the biggest winner this month, increasing his wealth by $64 billion over the past month (adding over $100 billion since the beginning of the year), once again setting a new wealth record. In October 2025, he became the world’s first individual with a net worth of $500 billion, and by December, he had surpassed $600 billion and $700 billion. In February 2026, his net worth first exceeded $800 billion, reaching an estimated $839 billion as of midnight Eastern Time on March 1. His wealth gap with second-place Larry Page, co-founder of Google, has exceeded $500 billion; Page’s wealth shrank by $20 billion in February, currently estimated at around $257 billion.
Today, many are counting down by weeks or even days, awaiting the moment Musk becomes the world’s first trillionaire. Although market trends are unpredictable, SpaceX’s planned IPO later this year is expected to be a key event influencing his wealth.
Page has maintained the second position on the global billionaire list for the fourth consecutive month. In February, due to declines in Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle stock prices, five of the top ten US tech giants, including Page, saw their wealth decrease by over $20 billion. Jeff Bezos experienced the largest loss that month: Amazon’s stock fell 12%, reducing his net worth by $26 billion to $224 billion.
