SLOVNAFT Relies on Oil Tanker Ships to Change Traditional Supply Routes

Facing oil supply disruptions from the Druzhba pipeline, Slovakia's SLOVNAFT refinery has taken strategic steps by ordering seven oil tankers to ensure operational continuity. According to Jin10, this decision is a response to logistical challenges faced amid the closure of the main Europe-Russia pipeline.

Diversifying Crude Oil Sources

The oil tankers ordered by SLOVNAFT will transport crude oil from various producing countries, including Saudi Arabia, Norway, Kazakhstan, and Libya. The cargo will be shipped to ports in Croatia as an alternative entry point for distribution to refining facilities. This diversification strategy allows the company to reduce dependence on a single pipeline route and secure long-term raw material supplies.

Maritime Routes as a Sustainable Solution

Using oil tankers via maritime routes offers flexibility that pipeline systems cannot provide. By relying on multiple sources simultaneously, SLOVNAFT has managed to maintain stable production operations while adapting to global geopolitical dynamics.
