IT House, March 2 — The 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona has officially kicked off. Today, Qualcomm announced the launch of the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, the most advanced wearable platform to date, designed to power the next generation of personal AI devices.

Qualcomm stated that the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform was created to enable OEM manufacturers and AI cloud service providers to develop and innovate rapidly in this new field. It supports deployment of AI agents across various device forms, including smartwatches, pin-type devices, pendants, and more. This is also the first time Qualcomm has introduced the “Elite” branding into the wearable sector.

For the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, Qualcomm optimized it based on four core technologies: on-device AI, performance, battery life, and connectivity.

First, the embedded NPU has been significantly enhanced to support more complex and continuous workloads without sacrificing energy efficiency. This allows for low-power, always-on tasks such as keyword detection and activity recognition on the device. For the first time in wearables, Qualcomm has integrated a dedicated NPU, enabling the device to run models with up to 2 billion parameters directly on the hardware. As AI models evolve toward smaller and more efficient designs, the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform strikes a good balance between performance and latency, delivering a stronger on-device AI experience.

Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform’s integrated eNPU, Hexagon NPU, and sensor hub work together to enable these close-to-the-body AI devices to better understand users’ daily contexts, allowing them to “see what you see and hear what you hear.” Specifically, the platform supports up to 2 billion parameters on the device, reduces token generation time to 0.2 seconds, and can generate up to 10 tokens per second.

Additionally, with the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, devices can effectively process multimodal inputs from voice, vision, location, and various sensors, creating personalized AI agents that support users in work, study, health, and daily life.

The performance of the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform has also been significantly improved. It features a new five-core CPU architecture, along with upgraded CPU and GPU components, resulting in performance boosts of up to 5 times for the CPU and up to 7 times for the GPU compared to previous generations.

In terms of energy efficiency, Qualcomm states that the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform can increase daily usage time (DOU) by 30%, and can be charged to about 50% in just 10 minutes.

Finally, regarding connectivity, Qualcomm has introduced the most comprehensive set of connection technologies for wearables, including six different types: 5G RedCap, ultra-low power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB (Ultra Wideband), GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), and NB-IoT satellite communication.
