(MENAFN) Israel has begun an offensive against Hezbollah, with military officials warning that the operation will continue for “many days,” as stated by reports.

Army chief Eyal Zamir said during a situational assessment at military headquarters in Tel Aviv, “We must prepare for many days of combat ahead.” He added, “This requires strong defensive readiness and sustained offensive readiness, operating in continuous waves while constantly utilizing opportunities.”

The announcement followed missile and drone attacks overnight by Hezbollah, the Iran-aligned Lebanese group, toward Israel. While no casualties or damage were reported, it marked the first such attack since the November 2024 ceasefire that ended the previous conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The escalation comes just two days after US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Israel has mobilized 100,000 reservists in preparation for what the military describes as a “multi-arena” conflict.
