On Wednesday, Photronics, Inc. (PLAB) announced its Q1 financial results, showcasing solid operational strength with impressive gains across key metrics. The company also outlined ambitious guidance for the second quarter, signaling management’s confidence in sustained momentum.

Q1 Earnings Deliver Double-Digit Profit Per Share Growth

The first quarter delivered substantial improvements on both the top and bottom lines. Photronics reported net income attributable to shareholders of $42.9 million, translating to $0.74 per share—outpacing the prior-year quarter’s $0.68 per share. On an adjusted basis, excluding one-time items, earnings reached $0.61 per share compared to $0.52 in the year-ago period, representing an 17.3% year-over-year increase in adjusted profitability. This double-digit growth in adjusted EPS underscores the company’s improving operational efficiency and margin expansion.

Revenue Growth Accelerates Quarter-Over-Quarter

Overall sales for Q1 climbed to $225.07 million, representing a 6.1 percent increase from $212.14 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The sustained revenue growth, coupled with margin improvement evidenced by the stronger EPS performance, reflects strong demand dynamics in the company’s served markets and effective cost management.

Q2 Guidance Projects Continued Expansion

Looking ahead, Photronics provided optimistic guidance for the second quarter, projecting adjusted earnings between $0.49 and $0.55 per share on revenues ranging from $212 million to $220 million. This forward guidance demonstrates management’s expectation of sustained operational strength and positions the company for another quarter of solid performance.

Market Responds Positively to Q1 Momentum

The market embraced the Q1 results with enthusiasm. In Wednesday’s pre-market trading, PLAB shares climbed to $40.75 on the Nasdaq, gaining $2.76 or 7.27 percent. This robust price action reflects investor confidence in both the Q1 results and the company’s forward-looking guidance, signaling strong investor sentiment toward Photronics’ near-term prospects.
