On March 4, the main contract for lithium carbonate futures closed at 153,000 yuan per ton, down 2.96%. The contract hit a limit-down on March 3, with a total decline of 14% over three days.
As a key raw material for lithium batteries, the price of lithium carbonate has retreated, driven by the escalating conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran since February 28. After Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei was targeted in the US-Israel joint airstrikes, Iran launched multiple ballistic missile attacks on US military bases in Israel, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The scope of the Middle East conflict continues to expand, involving more energy storage consumers in the regional turmoil.
