The ongoing military conflicts among the United States, Israel, and Iran continue to draw attention.

According to CCTV News, a reporter from the station learned on March 3rd local time that an Israeli defense source confirmed that the Israeli Air Force attacked a building in Qom, Iran. At the time, senior religious officials were gathered there to elect Iran’s new Supreme Leader.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency, Iranian media released footage showing that the office building was completely reduced to ruins. Israeli media reported that members of the expert council were in a meeting to elect the new Supreme Leader when the attack occurred during vote counting, and not all members were present.

The official revealed that the expert council responsible for electing Iran’s Supreme Leader has 88 members, but it is unclear how many were inside the building at the time of the attack.

According to the reporter from the station, although the expert council headquarters is located in Tehran, many members live in Qom. The Iranian Expert Council is the highest authority responsible for electing, supervising, and dismissing Iran’s Supreme Leader, holding elections every eight years with 88 seats.

Additionally, Iran’s Defense Ministry spokesperson stated on the 3rd local time that the enemy believes assassinating Iranian commanders can cause the military to collapse, which is a misjudgment.

The spokesperson pointed out that each commander has at least three successors, and the Iranian military will not experience a command vacuum due to the sacrifice of a commander.

Iran Sends Letter to UN Special Representative

Calls for Investigation into School Attack

According to CCTV News, on the 3rd local time, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Ali Bahrami, wrote to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Najat Maalla Mjid, urging attention to the attack on a girls’ primary school in Minab, Hormozgan Province, southern Iran, by U.S. and Israeli armed forces.

Bahrami emphasized that if such deliberate military attacks targeting school children are not condemned, it could set a dangerous precedent, allowing such serious violations against children to continue.

Bahrami pointed out that any violence against innocent children, regardless of the conflict, is unjustifiable.

On February 28th, a primary school in Minab was hit during the U.S. and Israel attacks on Iran, resulting in 165 deaths.

After the Strikes on Iran

U.S. Enhances Monitoring of “Potential Threats” Within the Country

The CCTV reporter learned on March 3rd that U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Department of Homeland Security has begun re-examining certain immigrant groups entering under temporary protected status, including reviewing their social media activities and conducting new interviews in some cases.

In response to the committee chairman’s question about how to prevent “sleeper terrorists” under the current Iran situation, Mayorkas said that DHS works daily with intelligence agencies and law enforcement partners to investigate and identify “potential threats” within the country. However, he did not specify whether recent actions related to Iran have posed a clear threat.

It is also known that after the U.S. attacked Iran, the FBI has instructed agents to closely monitor individuals within the U.S. who might have been “activated” due to the Iran situation.
