Iranian nuclear facilities damaged, IAEA calls for restraint from all parties
Caixin March 3rd, local time, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran was recently damaged.
The IAEA stated on social media that, based on the latest satellite images, the agency can confirm that the entrance building of Iran’s underground Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant has recently been damaged, but it is not expected to cause radioactive consequences.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that according to previous resolutions of the IAEA General Conference, armed attacks on nuclear facilities should never occur, as they could lead to the release of radioactive materials and cause serious consequences for the attacked country and its surrounding areas. “In line with the agency’s objectives, I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation,” he said.
