Doha, Qatar: Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre have launched the fifth edition of the “Fereej Boys” Championship, taking place from February 26 to March 6, 2026, with more than 16 teams competing across three age groups: 10–12 years, 13–14 years, and 15–17 years.
The annual tournament brings together a wide range of youth organizations, reflecting strong community involvement. Participants include Barzan Youth Centre and Doha Youth Centre, as well as schools such as Simaisma Primary School and Al Khor Model School for Boys, along with several sports academies.
Nawaf Mohammed Al Mudhahka, President of Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre, emphasized that the championship is more than just a sports event. “The ‘Fereej Boys’ Championship is not merely a sports contest but a comprehensive educational and national initiative aimed at developing well-rounded personalities among our youth, combining athletic skills with moral values, discipline, and teamwork,” he said.
He added that the center is dedicated to providing a safe and motivating environment to discover and nurture young talent, in line with the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s vision to empower young people and promote sports as a way of life. Al Mudhahka noted that the participation of youth centers and schools reflects a spirit of community integration in serving the younger generations. “We will continue to launch quality initiatives that help prepare an aware generation, physically and ethically distinguished, capable of serving the nation and contributing to Qatar’s National Vision 2030,” he added.
As part of the educational aspect of the championship, an awareness workshop will be held on Qatar Environment Day in cooperation with Friends of the Environment Centre. The workshop aims to raise environmental awareness among participants, promote sustainability concepts, encourage the preservation of public facilities, and reinforce responsibility toward the environment.
Essa Nasser Al Humaidi, Vice President of Simaisma and Al Daayen Youth Centre, emphasized that the tournament aims to instill a set of core values among youth, including respect for rules, discipline, sportsmanship, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. “Sport is not only a skill demonstrated on the field; it is behavior and ethics reflected beyond the field. This is what we strive to instill in every event we organize,” he said.
The championship demonstrates the role of sport as a tool for human development—discovering talent, reinforcing values, and achieving harmony between physical, educational, and national dimensions.
