On March 2nd, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A reporter asked whether China can confirm recent reports by foreign media that Iran is close to reaching an agreement with China on the procurement of the CM-302 supersonic anti-ship missile. If delivered, these missiles would be among the most advanced weapons China has provided to Iran in recent years.
“These reports are not true,” Mao Ning emphasized. As a responsible major country, China has always fulfilled its international obligations. China opposes malicious speculation and hopes relevant parties will do more to help ease tensions.
