Tencent Tianmei Game project personnel adjustments? Insiders respond
Recently, there have been reports that Tencent Tianmei’s certain project team will lay off hundreds of employees, with no internal opportunities for transfer. An official announcement is expected within the next two weeks. Tencent has not responded to this. However, according to Southern Metropolis Daily, an insider said that the news is not true.
According to the source, there was indeed some adjustment in the Tianmei J6 team responsible for a certain project, involving about 100 people. Additionally, affected employees have a two-month buffer period, and internal efforts are actively promoting job transfers. If employees choose to leave after two months, they can receive N+1 compensation.
It is understood that the reason for the adjustment in the Tianmei project team is due to the underperformance of the pet-catching gameplay “Shanhai Xunling,” which they developed.
Public information shows that “Shanhai Xunling” is not a standalone product but part of a major update called “Shanhai Xunling: Pet Catching World,” released earlier this year for the party game “Yuanmeng Zhixing.” This gameplay was first revealed in 2024, underwent multiple testing phases, and officially launched on January 30 of this year.
Notably, during the Spring Festival, several Tencent games performed remarkably. On New Year’s Eve, “Peacekeeper Elite” set a new record with a DAU exceeding 90 million. Additionally, during the holiday, multiple games such as “Honor of Kings,” “Valorant Mobile,” “Naruto,” “League of Legends Mobile,” and “CrossFire Mobile” ranked in the top ten of China’s iOS best-sellers list.
