The United States may abandon supporting the son of the Iranian king, the Pahlavi dynasty, to take the throne.
The United States is cautious about the proposal to consider Reza Pahlavi, the son of the overthrown Iranian king, as the so-called “new leader of Iran.” Reports say that the U.S. is worried that Pahlavi could become “another Ahmad Chalabi.” The latter was once praised by Washington as a potential successor to Saddam Hussein but was rejected by the Iraqi people after the 2003 U.S. invasion. It is said that the U.S. has doubts about Pahlavi’s political judgment, and some Iranians also accuse him of putting the lives of overseas residents at risk. (Cailian Press)
