Several U.S. officials have revealed that, before the planned talks between U.S. and Iranian officials on the 6th in Oman, there was no clear consensus within the Trump administration on specific objectives for military action against Iran. It is reported that Trump has not publicly clarified his ultimate goals regarding Iran, including whether he seeks regime change, weakening the current government, or forcing Iran to accept stricter restrictions on its nuclear program and missile activities. U.S. officials stated that there is also no clear “post-operation roadmap” within the government regarding the role the U.S. would play after military action. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that upcoming negotiations should cover Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missiles, regional proxy activities, and domestic human rights issues. However, Iran has previously stated multiple times that it refuses to negotiate on issues outside of its nuclear program. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to deploy aircraft carriers, fighter jets, and air defense systems to the Middle East. The U.S. claims this is a response to regional tensions, not a decision to carry out specific military actions. Many allied countries remain cautious about potential military escalation and urge the U.S. to prioritize negotiations to avoid conflict. (CCTV News)
