Sophia Space has raised $10 million to develop its TILE modular server rack. The rack integrates solar panels and passive cooling systems, designed specifically for space computing. The design is based on orbital solar power research from Caltech, aiming to use 92% of the generated power for computing. The company plans to conduct orbital demonstrations in 2027/2028 and envisions building megawatt-scale data centers in the 2030s, with applications ranging from Earth observation to defense systems.
