Alphabet to double its workforce with a large-scale office project in India, equivalent to the size of a perfect square
Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is pursuing an ambitious plan to significantly expand its operations in the Indian market. According to multiple sources, the company is considering securing several million square feet of new office space in the tech hub of Bangalore, aiming to build a large-scale growth foundation for its India operations.
Large-Scale Campus Development in Bangalore’s Tech Hub
The core of Alphabet’s expansion plan involves securing facilities in the Elmira Vibe City development area, located in the Whitefield corridor, a hub for the tech industry. The company has already completed a lease agreement for one office building in this district and has secured options to acquire two additional facilities.
These facilities are scheduled to be developed in phases, with the first building expected to begin accommodating employees within the next few months. Elmira Vibe City will cover a total area of 2.4 million square feet, and this measurement in square feet is a crucial indicator for understanding the capacity of the facilities.
Facility Size of 2.4 Million Square Feet to Employ Up to 20,000 People
If Alphabet fully utilizes the three office buildings, the campus could accommodate up to 20,000 employees. This would significantly increase the current number of employees at its India operations.
Currently, Alphabet employs approximately 14,000 people in India, and this expansion plan could nearly double that figure. By utilizing facilities of this scale, the company aims to establish a key talent hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
Talent Strategy and Global Expansion in India
Globally, Alphabet employs about 190,000 people, and the new hiring plans in India will have a substantial impact on the overall human resource composition of the group. As competition for top talent intensifies in the tech industry, establishing a large-scale presence in the Indian market holds strategic significance.
Bangalore is one of the key centers for the tech industry in Asia, and by securing a vast facility space of 2.4 million square feet, Alphabet demonstrates its intention to steadily strengthen its business foundation in this region.
