Wu says that, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, a New Jersey man William Panzera has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for involvement in the transportation and distribution of synthetic drugs related to fentanyl and for using Bitcoin and bank wire transfers to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to suppliers in China. Panzera and his accomplices imported large quantities of fentanyl and analogs from China from 2014 to 2020 and distributed them in New Jersey in bulk or fake pill form. Eight co-defendants have previously pleaded guilty or been convicted.
