On the 21st, after meeting with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, U.S. President Trump tweeted that he and Stoltenberg "developed a framework for future agreements regarding Greenland and the entire Arctic region," and therefore he will not implement the tariffs on eight European countries that were scheduled to take effect on February 1. On the 17th of this month, Trump previously posted on social media announcing that the United States would impose tariffs on American imports from eight European countries opposing U.S. efforts to take Greenland, starting February 1. In response to Trump's tariff threats, the eight European countries issued a joint statement saying they would "stand united and coordinate" to respond.
