Honestly, throughput and cost still need to be balanced... Speed alone is useless, and with gas fees skyrocketing, who the hell wants to use it?

Stop pretending, the real on-chain data is right there. Most L1s are still burning money to subsidize TPS; if the incentives are removed, can they really run? Just look at the capital flow of the whales to know whether they believe in it or not.
