The stable operation of on-chain ecosystems ultimately depends on one thing—trustworthy and reliable data.

Smart contract code can run perfectly, with no logical bugs, but if there is a lack of reliable external data sources, everything is like groping in the dark. Even the smartest contracts cannot make correct decisions. This pain point is the core challenge that many blockchain projects aim to solve.

Oracles are the answer to this problem. They are not just simple data carriers but establish a trust bridge between the real world and on-chain logic.

Why does the DeFi ecosystem care so much about data integrity? Because DeFi is never isolated. The entire ecosystem relies on three main pillars working together—trusted data input, correct execution of smart contracts, and secure asset transfer. Missing any one of these links can cause problems in the entire system. Especially in applications like lending, trading, and derivatives, which are highly sensitive to data, the accuracy of data directly impacts fund security and market pricing fairness.

This is also why oracle services have become a foundational infrastructure in DeFi.

Oracles, to put it simply, are the lifeblood of DeFi. Once the data is wrong, the entire game is lost, and it really needs to be taken seriously.

That's right, data is the lifeblood of DeFi. If one link in the chain fails, the entire ecosystem is doomed. The current state of oracles is intense; it seems like every new project wants to build its own oracle. Is that really safe? The phrase "groping in the dark" is spot on—invalid data is like a ticking time bomb. Suddenly, I wonder—what if the oracle itself gets attacked? That would be even worse. That's why Chainlink is thriving so well; its monopolistic position is just too comfortable. The theory of the three main pillars of DeFi is good, but in practice, which part is most easily overlooked? Ultimately, the core issue is still the high trust cost; otherwise, there wouldn't be so many middle layers.

Oracles are essentially guarantees of data reliability; without them, DeFi is just gambling.

Oracles are indeed a bottleneck, but the current pricing feed solutions are still a bit weak, and centralized risks are really a stumbling block.

Oracles are indeed the key to DeFi; once the data encounters issues, the entire ecosystem is doomed.
