Will Memecoin Make a Comeback This Year?
Historically, the surge of memecoins in the cryptocurrency market has often been a short-term indicator of strong market conditions and a higher risk appetite among participants.
Since the beginning of this year, cryptocurrencies have started to recover, showing strong performance after a long period of decline and bearish sentiment. The same happened in the summer of 2024 when the meme craze began.
This time, memes again closely follow the overall market and start to recover after several sharp declines. The meme tags on CryptoRank show about 80% of coins are increasing in value, and the total market capitalization has risen by 35% in a week.
But are they really making a comeback?
Overall, the performance of Memecoin remains at its lowest level since June, despite many other cryptocurrencies launching since then.
However, attention is currently focused on projects generating revenue.
Ironically, protocols related to gambling are among the top protocols, so memes probably won't disappear entirely in the near future.
Therefore, it can be said that we will witness numerous rapid price surges based on memes this year, but they are unlikely to become long-term trends.
