An interesting development: Donald Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) plans to team up with Crypto.com to create something new. The plan is to issue a new digital token to shareholders, supported by Crypto.com's Cronos blockchain.

How exactly will the distribution work? Each ultimate beneficial owner will receive a corresponding number of tokens based on the number of whole DJT shares they hold. These tokens also have some utility — holders may periodically receive rights or discounts related to products like Truth Social, Truth+, and Truth Predict within a year.

However, a few points need clarification: this digital token does not represent ownership of Trump Media or any other entity; the tokens may be non-transferable and not exchangeable for cash, making them somewhat restrictive; and only the ultimate beneficial owners holding DJT shares on the designated record date will receive the tokens. Overall, this is a token scheme tied to shareholder rights.

The mechanism design is okay, at least it hasn't opened up transfers, but honestly, this thing is just fancy dividends with no real innovation. The key question is: can Cronos stay stable?

It's the same old trick again—non-transferable, non-exchangeable. Basically, it's just a shell for a consumption voucher.

Here comes the new way to trap retail investors again. Non-transferable and non-cashable means being stuck.

It's the same old trick again, tokens can't be transferred or exchanged for money... Basically, it's just a points card.

Whoa, DJT is issuing tokens? That's an interesting approach, but who would buy it if it's non-transferable and non-redeemable?

It's the same trick again—locked tokens can't be sold, purely a money grab.

Really? DJT is going on the chain? But this token seems a bit useless, and I still can't sell it...
