Synaptics Leadership Shake-Up: Michael Hurlston Exits as CEO, Interim Leadership Takes Over Amid Mixed Q2 Results
Synaptics Incorporated (SYNA) disclosed significant organizational changes Monday with the immediate departure of its Chief Executive Officer Michael Hurlston, who is moving to lead Lumentum Holdings Inc. The tech company has activated its succession protocol, with Chief Financial Officer Ken Rizvi stepping into the Interim CEO position, while Board Chairman Nelson Chan will serve as Executive Chairman until a permanent successor is identified.
The executive transition comes as Synaptics reported preliminary metrics for its second quarter of fiscal 2025. The company projects net revenue reaching approximately $265 million, accompanied by adjusted net income of $15 million. Operating costs are estimated at $136 million on a GAAP basis, with non-GAAP adjustments of $4 million factored in. The broader operating expense structure shows $96 million after applying a $2 million adjustment to the $40 million segment.
Earnings Performance Under Scrutiny
On the earnings front, Synaptics anticipates reporting a net loss of $0.45 per share for the quarter, though adjusted earnings per share are forecast at $0.20. This mixed financial picture reflects the company's ongoing navigation of market dynamics in the semiconductor and interface solutions sector.
What's Next
Management will deliver comprehensive financial commentary and detailed Q2 FY2025 results when the company hosts its earnings call on February 6. Investors will have the opportunity to hear directly from the interim leadership team about the strategic direction and operational priorities moving forward.
Stock performance reflected modest investor sentiment, with SYNA closing Monday's session at $85.05, registering a marginal gain of $0.15 or 0.18 percent on the Nasdaq.
