The UNICEF StartUp Lab, inaugurated in 2019, is a six-month accelerator program tailored for impactful startups and businesses dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at benefiting children and young people.
The program, which is a partnership between UNICEF in Ghana, supported by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), and MEST Africa, offers a distinctive service by combining intensive, hands-on business acceleration with comprehensive technical expertise and systems knowledge in the social sector.
The expertise is led by UNICEF experts in Education, Health & Nutrition, Social Policy & Protection, WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), and Child Protection.
Participants in the program gain access to individual mentorship, a network of UN System partners, prototyping funding, and various other support mechanisms.
The accelerator is only open to startups in Ghana, with the following eligibility criteria:
The accelerator is seeking to include startups from all regions in Ghana, with female co-founders/co-founder also highly sought after. Open-source solutions, or startups that are willing to open-source their solutions, are particularly encouraged to apply.
