Recently, I've encountered quite a few Newbies asking: "I just got on board with futures, and my account is around a few hundred to a thousand bucks, how can I operate to avoid being liquidated instantly?"

To be honest, their concerns are completely reasonable.

The truth is: the easiest way to blow up an account with 1k is to use a 1k principal to replicate the operation rhythm of a 100k account.

I have brought many new traders, and none of those with small funds survived by brute force. The key is discipline.

**Level 1: Refuse to use full margin

One thousand yuan divided into five parts, each time only taking two hundred yuan to strike. This is not conservatism, it's common sense.

Leverage is the most addictive thing. 5 to 10 times is enough. Those who play with 50 times or 100 times? To put it bluntly, that's not called trading; that's waiting for a needle at the gambling table. Market fluctuations go back and forth, and with one reverse gap, the game is over.

**Level 2: Do not average down on losses

Did you really lose a portion of your funds on a single trade? Stop. Don’t rush to increase your investment hoping to recover.

I used to disagree with this principle. When I lost money, I thought about doubling down to recover it, but ended up going deeper down a dark path. Later I understood: stopping is always more important than making the right move on the next trade.

The market won't close. You're not missing this opportunity.

**Level 3: Know when to stop

Assuming a transaction made a profit of five hundred, then transfer three hundred out to the cold wallet, leaving only two hundred in the account to continue operations.

Many people falter here—reluctant to pocket a few hundred in floating profits, and then when a spike or crash occurs, they have to start from scratch. You should never fill your account with all your profits. Only when you actually withdraw the money does your mindset for future operations become less likely to distort.

**Core cognition must be rooted:

Opening a contract with 10x leverage, if you misjudge the direction by 10%, your principal will disappear. However, a 10% rise or fall in the crypto market in a day is a common occurrence and not surprising at all.

Even for veterans, a 60% win rate can already be considered top-tier traders. So surviving relies not on the accuracy of predictions, but on having light positions and quick reactions.

The bottom line of risk management: When daily losses reach 2% of total capital, it's time to be alert; when it reaches 6%, close the trading software immediately and take a 24-hour break. For profitable trades, first lock in the principal, then allow the remaining portion to seek gains.

Funds are accumulated gradually like a snowball, not all at once like a big bet.

If you want to survive longer in the futures market with a small amount of capital, just remember these six words: low leverage, diversify positions, take profit.

If you are still easily attracted by the market trends and can't find your own trading rhythm, it might be a good idea to have an in-depth conversation. The road of the market is still long, and only by walking steadily can you reach the place you want to go.
