European Central Bank President: Digital Euro Readiness Completed, Launch Expected in H2 2026
Golden Finance reports that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde stated on Thursday that preparations for the digital euro have been completed and are awaiting further approval from government agencies, with a launch expected in the second half of 2026. The European Central Bank views the digital euro as a strategic financial tool. Christine Lagarde said, "Our goal is to ensure that in the digital age, there is a currency that can serve as the cornerstone of financial system stability." The ECB also called on EU institutions to adopt the digital euro regulatory framework as soon as possible.
