#加密生态动态追踪 66 million BTC! What’s behind a publicly listed company's "crazy" accumulation?
In the list of institutional investors holding BTC, MicroStrategy acts like a mirror — every move reflects market psychology shifts. As the company among global listed firms holding the most BTC, its attitude towards Bitcoin has never been ambiguous.
Numbers speak. During the week from December 9 to 15, 2024, MicroStrategy invested $1.5 billion, purchasing a total of 15,350 BTC, with an average price just over $100,000 per coin. By mid-December, its total holdings had reached 439,000 BTC, spending approximately $27.1 billion. And now (January 2025), that number has long surpassed 660,000 BTC — Founder Michael Saylor’s phrase "continuous buying" is not just talk. The "buy and hold" strategy has been validated with every market dip.
What has truly changed is that this company successfully joined the Nasdaq 100 index in mid-December. It sounds like a technical benchmark, but the real impact is significant — numerous ETFs tracking this index (like Invesco QQQ Trust) flooded in with about $2.1 billion to buy its shares. What does this mean? Crypto assets are moving from the fringe to the mainstream financial spotlight. Although some criticize its over-commitment to BTC as risky, the market has voted with real money.
The accumulation pace has not slowed. By the end of 2024, it bought another 1,070 BTC, and in January 2025, it plans to raise an additional $2 billion through issuing preferred shares to further expand its holdings. This execution capability is indeed remarkable.
However, saying there are no constraints at all is unrealistic. Certain regulatory frameworks cap digital asset allocations for listed companies — for example, a limit of 50% of total assets. MicroStrategy’s savvy lies in not choosing to "bet the farm," but instead maintaining a balance between faith and financial restructuring, aligning traditional software business with BTC investments. This approach demonstrates deep recognition of Bitcoin’s long-term value and sets a compliant example for other listed companies wanting to enter the crypto space — how to believe in the future while living within proper bounds.
