"There is absolutely no chance" of Bitcoin going to zero, says CEO of cryptocurrency platform
Source: PortaldoBitcoin Original Title: “There is not the slightest chance” of Bitcoin going to zero, says Coinbase CEO Original Link:
The CEO of a cryptocurrency platform stated on Wednesday (3), during the DealBook Summit crypto event in New York, that Bitcoin does not have the slightest chance of ever going to zero.
The executive’s comments—who sat alongside the CEO of a traditional financial institution—came after journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin referenced historic statements by notorious Bitcoin-skeptic investors.
“Do you think there is any chance Warren Buffett is right? He and Charlie Munger used to call Bitcoin rat poison and said it would eventually go to zero,” Sorkin asked. “There is not the slightest chance,” the CEO responded.
The executive highlighted that people’s psychology changes over time and that older generations grew up in an environment where the dollar was considered unquestionable.
However, he notes that, currently, democracies are dealing with deficits and that Bitcoin positions itself as a new form of “digital gold” in times of uncertainty, which becomes difficult for those with a more traditional outlook to accept a more decentralized and digital world.
In turn, the CEO of the financial institution admitted he was wrong when, in the past, he criticized Bitcoin and associated it with illicit activities. Today, the institution holds the largest spot Bitcoin ETF in the world.
“I have very strong opinions, but that doesn’t mean I’m not wrong,” the executive admitted. “My thought process is always evolving.”
