How self-made millionaires truly build their wealth

Abstract generation in progress

Do you think wealth is for heirs? Wrong. According to the latest data, 80-85% of millionaires are self-made. In 2022 alone, about 2 million Americans reached this milestone — not by inheritance, but through work, discipline, and strategy.

So, what sets them apart? Here’s what the truly wealthy reveal.

## Money is not for spending, but for working

Forget the image of millionaires throwing money out of the window. The reality: true rich people are frugal to the point of obsession. They know every cent spent, avoid impulse purchases, and refuse consumer credit spending.

Why? Because they understand a simple rule: every euro saved is a euro that can generate compound interest. Those who understand interest earn it; others pay it.

## Stocks, not startups

Contrary to the myth of the billionaire entrepreneur, 88% of millionaires have built their wealth through capital investments, not through entrepreneurial projects. Salary, stock options, capital gains — that's their formula.

The average portfolio? More than 30% in stocks. And young investors? They are lagging behind: many are still wary of the stock market, even though it is the only proven path to long-term wealth.

## Multiple income streams: the real game changer

In a study of 361 self-made millionaires, a clear pattern emerges:
- 75% had at least 2 sources of income
- 65% had 3
- 45% had 4
- 29% had 5+

Each new flow allows for reinvestment and the creation of the next one. This is the snowball effect.

## The truly wealthy keep their cars for a long time

More than 80% of millionaires buy instead of rent. Even better: less than 25% buy new — they prefer used. They view the car as an asset to keep, not to renew.

## Patience: The Real Superpower

The most revealing study? It took an average of 32 years for these millionaires to build their wealth. The majority only reached this status between the ages of 46 and 60.

Fast? No. But reliable and reproducible.

## Habits That Change Everything

Beyond finance, the truly wealthy share common routines:
- Regular reading
- Sports and healthy eating
- Sufficient sleep (7h+)
- Morning hoisting
- Mentoring ( giving and receiving)

## The strategy for you

Here is the pattern: savings > investments > multiple incomes > reinvestment > patience = wealth.

No shortcut, but a clear road.
