The Federal Reserve's Hawkish Remarks Last Week Caused $360 Million Outflow from Global Digital Asset Investments
According to CoinShares weekly report data, the global digital asset investment market experienced a $360 million outflow last week, primarily due to growing investor concerns over Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's hawkish comments about possibly not cutting interest rates in December.
Although the Fed cut interest rates by 25 basis points at the end of October, the market's hawkish interpretation of Powell's potential December remarks continued to weigh heavily on Bitcoin prices, as Bitcoin remains highly sensitive to monetary policy directions.
Among different asset classes, Bitcoin ETFs suffered the most significant impact, with weekly outflows reaching $946 million. This reflects Bitcoin's vulnerability as the most interest rate-sensitive digital asset amid rate uncertainty.
In stark contrast, Solana attracted $421 million in inflows, marking the second-highest weekly inflow ever for the asset, mainly driven by strong performance of newly approved US ETF products.
Meanwhile, Ethereum saw a total inflow of $57.6 million, but daily fund flow data indicates that investor sentiment remains divided.
On a country/region basis, the US market continued to dominate, with a total weekly outflow of $439 million; Sweden followed with a weekly net outflow of $11 million.
Conversely, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, and Australia recorded inflows of $32 million, $30.8 million, $8.5 million, and $7.2 million respectively last week, partially alleviating the overall global outflow pressure.
In summary, the digital asset market experienced increased capital outflows under the influence of Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's hawkish remarks, highlighting market sensitivity and uncertainty regarding monetary policy directions.
Looking ahead, investors should closely monitor the Federal Reserve's further actions and changes in the global macroeconomic environment. Cautiously allocate assets across different digital asset categories to navigate market volatility and various uncertainties.
