[Indonesian Central Bank to Launch Government Bond-Backed Digital Shield CBDC] Indonesian Central Bank Governor Perry Warjiyo announced at the “Indonesia Digital Finance Economy Festival and Fintech Summit 2025” held in Jakarta that the central bank plans to issue digital central bank securities, which are a tokenized version of government bonds, based on the country's central bank digital currency. Warjiyo stated, “We will issue Indonesian central bank securities in digital form - a digital shield backed by government bonds, which is Indonesia's national version of a stablecoin.” This initiative is seen as an important step in integrating blockchain technology into the Indonesian monetary system.
