Did Elon Musk Really Tweet About XRP? The 20-Second Mystery
Crypto Twitter erupted yesterday when rumors spread that Elon Musk briefly mentioned XRP in a tweet that vanished almost instantly. According to several users, the Tesla founder and X owner posted something positive about XRP before deleting it within seconds - leaving the community in a frenzy of speculation.
I've been watching this unfold with equal parts fascination and skepticism. Not a single screenshot exists of this supposed tweet, which immediately raises red flags. In my years following crypto, I've never seen Musk tweet something controversial without at least one person capturing it for posterity.
User JackTheRippler kicked off the rumors, claiming: "RUMORS: Elon Musk has posted: '#XRP is looking quite promising.' He deleted the post within 20 seconds." The claim gained traction when people started consulting Grok, Musk's own AI tool on X, which bizarrely "confirmed" the tweet existed.
One Grok response stated the tweet "was significant enough to generate buzz" while another suggested Musk had mentioned "X Payment is likely using XRP for cross border payment." These AI-generated answers became "evidence" despite no visual confirmation whatsoever.
Some community members aren't buying it. User Zach Rector expressed what many of us are thinking: "It's not possible that Elon tweeted about XRP and left it up for 20 minutes without someone getting a screenshot."
I personally suspect this is wishful thinking from XRP holders looking for validation. With XRP currently trading at $2.50 - up nearly 5% in 24 hours but still down 14% monthly - the community seems desperate for a catalyst. The coin has experienced wild volatility lately, hitting $3.65 in July before crashing below $2.40 after the October 10th flash crash.
Musk has remained silent on the matter, neither confirming nor denying the alleged tweet. Until actual evidence emerges, I'm filing this under "crypto community folklore" rather than legitimate news.
