"Wapeach" Concept Art Unveiled by Waluigi's Creator
Fumihide Aoki, the genius behind Waluigi, just dropped a bombshell. He shared never-before-seen art of "Wapeach" - a character dreamed up during the making of Mario Power Tennis back in 2004. She never made it into any actual games. Fans are buzzing.
Aoki's social media post pulled back the curtain. Sketches and a 3D model. Wapeach (or "Warupeachi"). Princess Peach's evil twin, basically. Kind of surprising it took this long to surface.
The Wapeach Look
The sketches feel familiar yet twisted. She's got Peach's general vibe but with a villainous makeover. Crown? Check. Leather dress? Yep. She's even sporting one of those spiked armbands like Bowser wears. One sketch shows her clutching an ax. Not exactly peachy.
Japanese notes on the drawings – "Purichi" (プリチ) and "Warupeachi" (ワルピーチ) – seem to confirm these are legit Nintendo concepts. It's not entirely clear why they never developed her further.
From Paper to Polygon
Aoki didn't stop at sketches. He revealed what looks like a finished 3D model created for the GameCube's Mario Power Tennis. Purple outfit. Very on-brand with the Wario/Waluigi color scheme. The visual connection is obvious.
When fans asked questions, Aoki mentioned the Wapeach idea actually started during N64's Mario Tennis development. The concept evolved for Power Tennis later. They finished designing her. Then... nothing. She vanished.
Nintendo's Character Philosophy
This peek behind the scenes reveals something about how Nintendo thinks. Back in 2000, Nintendo Power interviewed Camelot president Hiroyuki Takahashi. They'd proposed creating romantic interests for characters like Wario and Luigi.
Miyamoto shut it down. He wanted adventures, not romance. Maybe that's why Wapeach never made the cut.
Fans React
Gaming communities are going wild. Theories everywhere. How would she have played? Would she have teamed up with Waluigi and Wario? The imagination runs wild.
This rare glimpse into Nintendo's creative kitchen has energized fans. Wapeach lives only in concept art, but she's already carved out a spot in Mario lore. A reminder of roads not taken in the Mushroom Kingdom. Something magical about seeing what might have been.
