What is the Oasis Network (ROSE)? A critical look at the project from my experience.

For someone who has seen too many blockchain promises

Oasis Network is marketed as another "revolutionary" Layer 1 blockchain. Supposedly designed for high scalability and privacy protection, it promises to drive Web3 and open finance. As always, it uses proof of stake (PoS) - nothing new under the sun.

1. Structure: more of the same with a nice name

The famous two-layer architecture

• Consensus layer: The usual - validators staking to secure the network.

• ParaTime Layer: Here is your "innovation" - parallel processing environments that supposedly improve scalability. How many times have we heard this?

The truth is that the separation between consensus and execution sounds good in theory, but in practice, few networks achieve truly efficient parallelism.

2. Features: marketing disguised as innovation

• "Private and scalable DeFi": They boast about 99% lower fees than Ethereum. But how long will this last when the network has more users?

• "Data Tokenization": They combine buzzwords like "Confidential Computing" and "Blockchain" but the actual implementation leaves much to be desired.

• "Scalable Architecture ParaTime": Here we go again - decentralization always ends up compromised by speed.

3. The money behind the project

In 2018 they raised 45 million dollars by selling 2.3 billion tokens (, which is 23% of the total supply!). The usual funds are present: a16z, Polychain, Pantera... always the same betting on projects that they then abandon when they find something shinier.

4. Tokenomics: programmed inflation

Basics: • Token: ROSE • Total supply: ~10,000,000,000 (too) • Circulating: 5,725,718,533 (guaranteed inflation)

The distribution is the typical scheme: 30% for "ecosystem development", 20% for staking, 20% for the founding team, 15% for investors... We already know how this ends: the early investors and founders cash in while regular users bear the inflation.

5. Team: impressive credentials, results to be seen

Dawn Song from Berkeley leads the project. She has experience in security and AI, but blockchain? As always, they have "experts" from Google, Apple, and Amazon. The advisors include former executives from Coinbase. Impressive names that do not guarantee that the product works.

6. Big investors, higher expectations

Large funds like a16z and others have backed the project. This ensures initial liquidity but also pressure for quick results that are not always compatible with solid development.

7. Milestones: much ado about nothing

Since 2018 they have made progress, but have they really changed the blockchain landscape? Their partnerships with BMW and Meta sound impressive, but I still hope to see real applications that impact the average user.

8. Roadmap: vague promises

For 2024-2025, they plan to improve Web3, security, and expand partnerships. As always, many fancy words but little concrete action. The "total interoperability" they promise for 2025 is something all blockchain projects have been promising since 2017.

9. Investment potential

ROSE has potential, but let's be realistic: it's just another project in a sea of fierce competition. Volatility is extreme and the real value has yet to be demonstrated in mass usage.

10. Where to buy ROSE (if you insist)

Available on the major exchanges (I won't name any to avoid problems). Personally, I would research more before putting my money in here.

Is ROSE revolutionary? I doubt it. It seems like another blockchain project with good intentions, big promises, and a high likelihood of being forgotten if it doesn't achieve real adoption soon.
