The accusations against Dr. Ruja Ignatova, known as the Crypto Queen and who has not been heard from since her disappearance with 3.3 billion euros in October 2017, have captured the public's attention.
Dr. Ruja Ignatova, an Oxford graduate, began to rise rapidly in her career in 2014. Millions of people around the world entrusted their life savings to this Bulgarian entrepreneur and believed in her vision of a new digital coin. However, Ignatova, dubbed the Crypto Queen, vanished without a trace in 2017.
U.S. authorities accuse her of fraud, believing she fled with investments valued at 3.3 billion euros from followers of the OneCoin cryptocurrency in approximately 175 countries. And although years have passed, little is still known about what happened to Ignatova.
However, according to reports from the BBC, it is possible that Ignatova may have been murdered. It is noted that the disappearance of the Queen of Cryptocurrencies is extremely mysterious due to suspicious connections with the mafia.
Ruja Ignatova did not attend a meeting with promoters in Lisbon in October 2017 and mysteriously disappeared.
Ignatova, accused of fraud, actually graduated from Oxford and worked for six years at McKinsey. She was self-assured and assured her followers that her project, OneCoin, would take off. Within months, millions of people around the world believed in her and purchased online packages of a new coin that they thought would change the world someday.
Recently, local media established tentative links between Ruja and Christoforos Amanatidis, a man in her home country of Bulgaria who is allegedly the leader of the country's organized crime network.
Documents seized from the home of a former police chief murdered in Sofia in 2022 revealed allegations that Ruja Ignatova was killed on the orders of Amanatidis in November 2018.
There is now suspicion that Ignatova may be dead.
